Westchester Man Faces Strangulation, Suffocation, Other Charges In Greenwich

A man from Westchester has been charged with strangulation and assault after police say he was involved in a physical dispute in Greenwich.

Greenwich Police say 24-year-old Anthony Carrera of Port Chester appeared at Stamford Superior Court for a matter unrelated to this case on Wednesday, May 1.

At this time, officers working with the Greenwich Police Department Warrants and Extraditions Unit were aware of an active warrant for Carrera’s arrest held by GPD with the following charges:

  • First-degree unlawful restraint
  • Interfering with emergency call
  • Third-degree assault
  • Second-degree strangulation

Police say the warrant was obtained after an investigation revealed probable cause that Carrera had been involved in an altercation in the area of N. Water Street in Byram on Monday, April 29 around 6:30 p.m.

Carrera was located, arrested and charged. He was released after posting a court-set bond of $75,000 and is scheduled to return to Stamford Superior Court on Thursday, May 2.
